Is there a Lady Macbeth? and Continued Research

In a discussion with Professor Strickland about Macbeth, he brought up an interesting question: Is the character of Lady Macbeth a real character or just the conscience/will/desires of Macbeth? Because I don't want to give away the plot, I won't explain why just yet, but it's just something interesting to keep in mind.
In other news, as I have begun to narrow down my research question to a more falsifiable and testable statement, I have noticed some difficulties involved in the research process, and I was curious as to how you all got around these obstacles. Because I am writing my research question about Oedipus, there are already very few sources to begin with. In addition, as I narrow my search with various keywords and time stamps, I find articles that have no relationship to Sophocles' work. Some sources are simply summaries of the play, and others contain abstracts that don't properly represent the majority of the work. However, this assignment has made appreciate the research reports that have been written and given me a better ability to navigate these research websites for future papers.

  1. That thought/conspiracy theory is really cool and I never considered that. It makes me think of the Fall and how Adam blames his own eating of the forbidden fruit on Eve, saying that she convinced him. Macbeth could be analogous to Adam in that he supposedly only commits crimes because the female aspect of himself made him (Eve being the female aspect of Adam because she came from his rib). I would say that would definitely be a misogynistic message from Shakespeare.
